Ask yourself this question: What are the basic things I need to do each day to take care of myself?” It may be one thing or several. Start by making a list. It may not always be possible to stick to everything on your list but the goal is to attempt at least one.
Prioritizing our needs may sound selfish but it is necessary to preserve our mental health, give our mind and body the love and care it needs and to enable us to be at our best. By not doing so can cause a negative chain reaction which can lead to feelings of stress, burnout and fatigue (both mentally and physically). Checking off at least one thing on your list each day can make such a huge difference. Your list can consist of taking time in the morning to pray and or meditate, workout, take a nap, get the proper amount of rest at night. Not taking the time for self-care can have a negative effect on our growth and creativity.
Take the time to work on your list and if you have a few items on the list, start slow so it doesn’t become overwhelming or unrealistic. Good Luck!
