I’ve been asked this question by my clients and the answer is yes. You can drink coffee before a workout (unless you’re sensitive to caffeine). In that case, please check in with your doctor.
There are several benefits to drinking that cup of Joe before a workout. They are:
1) Coffee is a great fat burner. When consumed before a workout it can actually cause fat cells to be used as an energy source. Also, high amounts of black coffee will increase your metabolism which will help with burning more calories throughout the day.
2) Coffee helps prevent certain diseases because it contains high amounts of antioxidants which protect against damage from free radicals.
3) Coffee, in particular black coffee can improve your mental focus not only for your workout but throughout the day as well.
4) Drinking coffee can increase performance enabling the athlete to train at a greater power output and/or train longer.
