There are several foods that are important to add to your diet for good brain health. A few of my favorites are:
1. Salmon-is a great source of protein that is high in omega-3 fatty acids. Salmon is critical for brain development and function. It has also been associated with lowering the risk of heart disease and arthritis. Salmon can be prepared in a variety of ways.
2. Eggs-offer a host of health benefits. They are one of the best food sources of choline which has been linked to reducing inflammation as well as promoting brain function. Eggs can be enjoyed any time of the day and with just about any meal.
3. Blueberries-in terms of berries, blueberries are number one. They provide vitamin C, vitamin K, manganese and phytonutrients. These nutrients help stimulate blood and oxygen flow in the brain. This improves concentration. Studies show that consuming blueberries helps lower the risk of age-related cognitive impairment, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
