What better way to get on the right track with our nutrition as we enter the new year than to start with cleaning out the refrigerator and the pantry. We might have food items in there that we indulged in during the holidays but the holidays are over and if we’re looking to get focused and stay on track it’s imperative that we start there.
Keep it simple. Get rid of snack items, processed foods and foods that contain empty calories. Stock your refrigerator with fresh vegetables and fruits, lean proteins such as salmon and other fish, chicken, egg whites and your pantry with tuna fish and healthy snacks like nuts, nut butter, rice cakes, whole grains, etc.). You can also stock up on beans, rice and oatmeal. Try to keep sugar, salt and flour to a minimum. That will make a big difference along with increasing your water intake.
Being proactive will set us on the right path for success!
